{"id":128736,"date":"2026-09-25T02:00:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-24T23:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hygeia.gr\/patient-guide\/your-discharge-from-the-hospital\/when-to-contact-the-hospital-immediately\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T02:00:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-24T23:00:08","slug":"when-to-contact-the-hospital-immediately","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hygeia.gr\/en\/patient-guide\/your-discharge-from-the-hospital\/when-to-contact-the-hospital-immediately\/","title":{"rendered":"When to Contact the Hospital Immediately"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Contact your attending physician or the hospital immediately if you experience:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"pg-check\">\n<li>high fever<\/li>\n<li>difficulty breathing<\/li>\n<li>severe or worsening pain<\/li>\n<li>bleeding or vaginal bleeding<\/li>\n<li>severe abdominal pain or worsening pain<\/li>\n<li>signs of infection (redness, swelling, discharge from a wound)<\/li>\n<li>adverse drug reaction<\/li>\n<li>severe sadness, anxiety, or significant mood changes that interfere with daily functioning<\/li>\n<li>any symptom for which you received specific instructions upon discharge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Contact your pediatrician immediately if your child experiences any of the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"pg-check\">\n<li>Difficulty breathing: very rapid or labored breathing, \u201cpulling in\u201d under or between the ribs, pauses in breathing, or grunting.<\/li>\n<li>Change in skin color: pale, \u201cashy,\u201d or dark skin; blue lips or tongue.<\/li>\n<li>Severe drowsiness or decreased responsiveness: does not respond as usual, is difficult to wake up, or appears \u201cvery ill.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Confusion or loss of consciousness, or a seizure.<\/li>\n<li>Severe, persistent, or worsening pain (e.g., in the head, chest, or abdomen).<\/li>\n<li>Repeated vomiting (especially after a blow to the head) or vomiting blood or green-colored vomit.<\/li>\n<li>Black or blood-tinged stool.<\/li>\n<li>Clear fluid or blood coming from the nose or ear after a blow to the head.<\/li>\n<li>Abnormal movement or weakness: sudden weakness or numbness in an arm or leg, difficulty walking or maintaining balance.<\/li>\n<li>High fever that does not respond to fever-reducing medications (especially in an infant &lt;3 months old with a temperature \u226538\u00b0C) or a fever accompanied by a rash that does not \u201cblanch\u201d when pressed.<\/li>\n<li>Signs of dehydration: very dry mouth, no tears when crying, sunken eyes, no wet diapers for 12 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Severe difficulty feeding: drinks much less than usual or refuses to eat or drink.<\/li>\n<li>Signs of a worsening allergic reaction: severe itching, rash, hoarse voice, difficulty swallowing or breathing.<\/li>\n<li>Any significant worsening of the child\u2019s condition or if \u201cthey don\u2019t seem well at all,\u201d regardless of the initial problem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow-up care after discharge is an important part of their care and contributes to the child\u2019s safe recovery and well-being.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Contact your attending physician or the hospital immediately if you experience: high fever difficulty breathing [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"parent":128730,"menu_order":6,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"template-patient-guide-page.php","meta":{"_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-128736","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hygeia.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/128736","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hygeia.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hygeia.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hygeia.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=128736"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.hygeia.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/128736\/revisions"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hygeia.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/128730"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hygeia.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=128736"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
