5th Conference of Transcatheter Heart Valve Therapies
"N. Louros" Conference Center MITERA Hospital
The 5th annual Trancatheter Heart Valve Therapy Conference was held on May 13-14, 2016 at the N. Louros Conference Center, MITERA Hospital. The event focused on the latest developments in the innovative and rapidly advancing field of Interventional Cardiology/Cardiac Surgery.
Dr Stratis Pattakos, Director of the 2nd Cardiac Surgery Clinic at HYGEIA Hospital, and Dr Konstantinos Spargias, Director of the Hospital’s Trancatheter Heart Valve Department, were the scientific heads of the conference. HYGEIA Hospital’s Trancatheter Heart Valve (THV) Department has developed a very successful large-scale program, covering the entire range of percutaneous heart valve repair treatments. It is the only program in Greece that uses all the available transcatheter aortic valves and all implantation routes, as well as the MitraClip system for mitral valve repair.
The conference mainly aimed at bringing together the heart treatment teams with all the other specialties involved in cardiac valve repairs, ensuring optimum healthcare for Greek patients. At the end of the conference, participants were able to assess whether certain patients with cardiac valve disease were suitable for transcatheter therapy, evaluate imaging techniques and be prepared for new programs on transcatheter valve repairs in the future.
