Emergency - Outpatient

The HYGEIA Emergency Department/Outpatient Clinic is open 24/7 all year round. The aim of the Department is immediate primary assessment, stabilization and effective management of critically ill or injured patients. It is staffed with 6 full-time internists as well as qualified on-call doctors of all medical specialties (internal medicine and surgery). No appointment is necessary for presenting to the Emergency Department.

Dedicated personnel receive the patients and their families arriving at the Emergency Department and record all the necessary personal and other details. The trained nursing staff then proceed with triage, with the aim of identifying the nature of the problem and assessing the gravity of the condition. This is followed by a physical exam and all the necessary treatment options.

The Emergency Department/Outpatient Clinic is equipped with suitable infrastructure and the latest technology, offering optimum management of patients with acute medical conditions. It features 10 fully equipped examination beds and 2 operating rooms, which can handle all surgical specialties. Minor surgeries under local anesthesia may also be performed within the Department.

The Emergency Department runs an X-ray room for immediate and safe imaging scans for incoming patients. Moreover, the HYGEIA Imaging Departments (Ultrasound, CT scan and MRI) are located nearby, for faster and more efficient management of patients.

The Hospital labs (Hematology, Biochemistry, Cardiac Catheterization) provide support 24/7 for lab tests and imaging scans deemed necessary for each patient.

The HYGEIA Emergency Department mainly aims to provide superior quality healthcare and treatment services to all critically ill patients by qualified and fully trained medical and nursing staff, coupled with the latest in medical technology.
