Medical Tests

Scheduled Medical Tests

All types of diagnostic, imaging and medical tests can be performed at HYGEIA, provided you have previously scheduled an appointment with your doctor, an Outpatient Clinic doctor, or the relevant department (e.g. Radiology Department if you want to undergo an X-ray). In some cases, you may be required to prepare for certain medical tests. You will receive detailed instructions from your doctor or the Department/Clinic reception.

Emergencies

In the event of an emergency, please proceed to the HYGEIA Outpatient Clinic/Emergency Department, located on the 3rd floor, 24/7, 365 days a year (Tel: +30 210 686 7425). No appointment is required in this case. The specialized physicians and the nursing staff will offer you first aid. You may even have to undergo medical and/or lab tests if it is deemed necessary.

Test Results

Test results can be picked up from the Department Reception, along with a medical report on your physical condition and any specific instructions if required. These are available in a very short time. You will receive further information from the Reception of the Department where the tests were performed.

Financial Obligations

You will be notified of the cost of the tests when you schedule your appointment. You must settle your bill before the tests are performed. You can pay by cash, check or credit/debit card.

Insurance Cover

HYGEIA is affiliated with the most Greek and foreign private insurance companies.

Prevention & Infection Control

HYGEIA Hospital follows international regulations and has adopted an Infection Control & Prevention Program for monitoring and controlling hospital infections and any other infections in general.

Please follow this advice to limit the risk of infection during your visit to the Hospital:

  • Wash your hands! Hand washing is the most effective way to prevent the spread of germs and infections, in and out of hospital. It is extremely important to wash your hands before and after using the bathroom. Depending on the medical test you are about to undergo, you may be asked to wash your hands with antibacterial soap to limit the risk of infections.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough! When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or with your upper sleeve, not your hands. Put your used tissue in a waste basket.
  • Do not touch with your hands, eyes, nose and mouth when you are in a hospital.
  • Follow the doctor’s instructions and the advice of the nursing staff.

Hygeia Card

On the day of your medical test, scheduled or not, you will be given a Hygeia Card, with your name and a strictly personal code number on it. The Hygeia Card works like an ID card, ensuring reliable identification. It offers multiple privileges and unique healthcare services to you and your family, while it minimizes waiting time during any transaction with the hospitals of HYGEIA Group (you need only present your card for immediate access and automatic recognition by all of the Group’s computers). Along with the card, you will also be given an information booklet which describes all the services and privileges available to you as the holder. In case you had been issued with a Hygeia Card during a previous admission/visit, please bring it with you. Click here for further information about the Hygeia Card or contact us on 1051.
