Endocrinological challenges in daily practice

"N. Louros" Conference Center MITERA Hospital

The 1st Scientific Meeting of the HYGEIA Group Endocrinology & Diabetes Department was held at the N. Louros Conference Center, MITERA Hospital, on Friday February 16, 2018. The Meeting, entitled “Endocrinologic Challenges in Everyday Practice”, was held under the auspices of the Hellenic Endocrine Society / Panhellenic Union of Endocrinologists.

The event was organized by the relevant HYGEIA Group Department, with the aim of offering well-rounded and deep insights into crucial issues relating to clinical endocrinology, based on the latest scientific developments, evidence-based medicine and modern techniques in day-to-day clinical practice.

Many useful conclusions were drawn relating to key endocrine issues, such as:

  • Individualized care as a treatment option in diabetes mellitus.
  • Latest developments in thyroid cancer surgery.
  • The importance of early and comprehensive treatment for pregnant women with diabetes.
  • Everyday challenges in frequently occurring problems, such as thyroid gland disorder treatments, as well as rare syndromes, such as neuroendocrine tumors, which may remain undiagnosed for years.

The Meeting also drew attention to the fact that all medical specialties must work together to ensure optimal treatment solutions for patients.

We were quite pleased that the 1st Scientific Meeting of the HYGEIA Group Endocrinology & Diabetes Department acted as a stepping stone for substantial and fruitful exchange of views among health professions. Distinguished scientists from HYGEIA Group, as well as many other colleagues, attended the Meeting and contributed to making it successful, either as speakers or as participants. Through their valuable experience, they facilitated the exchange of views and made the speeches more communicative, which happens to be the key aim of educational training: the dissemination of knowledge.
