HYGEIA: 4th Athens International Elbow Course

The HYGEIA Hospital 1st Orthopedic Department, headed by Mr Savvas Sourmelis, in partnership with the Attikon General Hospital 1st Orthopedic Department, Athens University Medical School, is organizing the Athens International Elbow Course for the 4th year running. The event will be held at the N. Louros Conference Center, MITERA Hospital, from 27 to 29 September 2019.

Invited professors from Europe and the USA will attend the Course. In particular, the invited guest speakers include B. Morrey, Mayo Clinic; D. Ring, Texas University; R. Van Riet, Antwerp, Belgium; M. Demirhan, Koc University Istanbul and President of the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow; and C. Zalavras, University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

A comprehensive scientific program on elbow trauma and conditions has been scheduled for the 3-day event, which also includes talks on the latest developments in surgery for elbow fractures, ligament damage, complex injuries, fractures and dislocations.

The distinguished, internationally acclaimed speakers will talk about all the modern surgical techniques for treating elbow trauma. There will also be talks on elbow tendinopathy, which are considered a modern-day plague. The Program also includes the latest developments in total elbow arthroplasties. The event will further feature constructive discussions, as the Program includes interactive sessions, where participants will talk about complex cases.

A hands-on workshop has been scheduled for the last day at the Hellenic Association of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology lab. The cadaveric workshop will focus on modern osteosynthesis principles for elbow fractures and surgical accesses for interns and orthopedic surgery specialists.
