HYGEIA: MAKO New Robotic Arm Assisted Orthopaedic Technology for Knee and Hip Arthroplasty. Unsurpassed Precision and Latest Applications

10 May 2018

The all new MAKO Robotic Arm Assisted system is already launched in HYGEIA hospital recently. This unique system is manufactured in USA and is extremely useful for high precision knee and hip replacement.

MAKO system can assist the trained orthopaedic surgeon to perform total hip, partial knee and total knee replacement procedures.

An ultra high definition Ct Scan is performed in every case so that the preoperative plan will be adjusted according to the patients anatomy. The detailed plan and the precision of the system can guarantee a true custom made result in every case.

During the operation the Robotic Arm assisted Technology can assist the Orthopaedic surgeon to accurately prepare the joint and place the implants.  The unsurpassed precision offered by the system together with  the ligament balancing evaluation and correction  for the knees not only can lead to an excellent surgical outcome but also may prolong the duration of implants far beyond.

In cases of partial replacement with the use of MAKO robotic Arm technology only a part of the knee is replaced.  This knee preserving surgery is exceptional for younger patients suffering from arthritis and restriction of mobility. Partial replacement of the knee at an earlier stage can prevent the destruction of the knee joint from arthritis.  This type of operation offers smaller incision almost no blood loss, one day hospitalization only and much faster recovery.

In cases of total knee replacement even though the operation resembles to a conventional total knee replacement it is a completely different procedure.  The Robotic Arm Assisted Total Knee Replacement is planned on the true patient’s anatomic specific knee so it is absolutely customized for every patient and for every knee.  The MAKO Total Knee is the only way to check and correct ligament stability and mobility, also ensures a wider range of knee motion.

Commenting the launching of this brand new system HYGEIA Hospital CEO Mr Andreas Kartapanis noted: We remain true to our commitment to investing in the latest technology.
