Clinical Electrophysiology and Cardiac implantable devices

The Department has long-standing and extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of cardiac arrhythmias. All procedures are performed in the fully equipped Electrophysiology Lab, with the assistance of the qualified nursing staff and Hospital technicians. The Electrophysiology Lab is equipped with modern electro-anatomic mapping systems for the diagnosis and ablation of complex arrhythmias. There is a fully equipped clinic for the follow-up of patients with pacemakers and defibrillators as well as for the management of patients with syncopal attacks.

Electrophysiology Lab Services:

  • Diagnostic electrophysiology studies for all kinds of arrhythmias.
  • Ablation of supraventricular tachycardias.
  • Atrial fibrillation ablation, with different techniques.
  • Endocardial and epicardial ablation of ventricular tachycardias.
  • Ablation of complex arrhythmias in patients with operated congenital heart defects.
  • Implantation of dual chamber and biventricular pacemaker and defibrillators (ICD). The Lab has been certified by the Central Health Council of the Greek Ministry of Health for ICD implantation, and participates in international, multicenter defibrillator clinical trials.
  • Leadless pacemaker and subcutaneous defibrillator implantation. The Lab is one of the first in Greece to perform these innovative techniques.
  • Ιmplantation of ECG monitoring devices.
  • Extraction of old intracardiac electrodes and management of infected devices with or without endocarditis.

Arrhythmia and Pacemaker/ICD Clinic Services:

  • Follow-up of patients with pacemakers and defibrillators.
  • Remote monitoring of implantable devices.
  • Assessment of syncopal attacks with the use of tilt testing and other modern techniques.
