Event: The Thyroid Gland Today: Modern Problems – Contemporary Views

A one-day event celebrating World Thyroid Day was held at HYGEIA Hospital on Friday May 25, 2018.

The event was entitled “The Thyroid Gland Today: Modern Problems – Contemporary Views” and was organized by the HYGEIA Group Endocrinology & Diabetes Department. The aim was to raise awareness and prompt a discussion on the latest developments in scientific literature and clinical practice.

Endocrinologists and endocrine surgeons, who represent both related clinical specialties, elaborated on the various topics discussed. The endocrinologists mainly focused on the problems and opportunities presented by new medications, as well as the difficulties in managing subclinical cases. The surgeons on the other hand mostly concentrated on the individualized treatments available to patients – especially during pregnancy – but also on more specialized topics, such as lymph node dissection.
