Computed Tomography & Cardiac MRI

The HYGEIA’s CT & MRI and Cardiac MRI Divisions are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and offer advanced medical services all year round.

The HYGEIA Group is equipped with 4 computed tomography scanners and 4 magnetic resonance tomography scanners, one of which is open, which allow the study and diagnosis of all heart conditions. The Division’s personnel have been specifically trained for this purpose.

CT coronary angiography

CT coronary angiography is performed in the modern dual-source CT scanner, where coronary arteries and the entire heart can be visualised and studied with precision. The specific technological features allow a reliable examination even in patients with tachycardia and/or atrial fibrillation.

Cardiac MRI

HYGEIA’s Cardiac MRI Division performs all heart-related tests with a high degree of diagnostic accuracy. It is staffed by specialised personnel who have contributed to the development and use of cardiac MRI on an international level, and have been recognised with a series of scientific publications in international literature.

The tests are performed in two 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging scanners that are equipped with software that is able to cover the entire range of heart tests. The tests are archived in the PACS system from where they can be recalled at any time.

Cardiac MRI can accurately and reliably assess:

• The anatomy and functionality of the heart.
• The function of the valves.
• Myocardial blood flow and blood flow reserve (stress MRI).
• Myocardial viability.
• The origin and main segments of the coronary arteries.

Training seminars addressed to cardiologists and radiologists are performed in association with the Cardiac MRI Division.
