Patient Identification
Upon admission, a special identification band with your personal information (full name and date of birth) will be placed on your wrist.
For newborns in particular, proper identification of the mother and newborn is a key safety measure. Immediately after birth, identification bands are placed on the mother and the newborn, and these remain in place throughout the hospital stay.
Staff verify the identification before every examination, treatment, transfer, or handover of the newborn to the mother. For this reason, you may be asked repeatedly to confirm your information or to show your identification bracelets.
Especially for pediatric patients, parents or guardians assist in the process by confirming the child’s information when asked.
Please:
- check that the information on the wristband is correct,
- never remove the identification tags,
- and ask the staff to verify the baby’s identity before receiving or transferring the newborn.
- if the tag is removed, damaged, or lost, notify the nursing staff immediately so it can be replaced.
