Your Safety

Practices and measures we apply for your safe care and stay.

6 Steps to Prevent Infections

The hospital is a place of care; however, during your stay, there is a possibility of exposure to microorganisms that can cause infection. By following simple protective measures, you can significantly reduce your risk of infection.

  1. Wash your hands frequently

    • Wash your hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
    • Especially before eating, after using the restroom, and after touching hospital surfaces or equipment
    • If your hands are visibly dirty, wash them with soap and water
  2. Ask everyone to practice hand hygiene

    • Don’t hesitate to remind staff to practice hand hygiene before and after every interaction with you
    • Ask visitors and companions to do the same
  3. Protect yourself when you are sick

    • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
    • Use a tissue or your elbow
    • Ask the staff if you need to wear a mask
    • Companions/visitors with symptoms of a respiratory infection are not permitted in the hospital.
  4. Protect your surroundings

    • Do not sit on other patients’ beds, and do not allow visitors to sit on yours
    • Visitors must practice hand hygiene when entering and leaving the room
  5. Follow isolation guidelines (if necessary)

    • In the event of isolation, staff will inform you of the necessary measures
    • Staff and visitors may be required to wear masks or protective equipment
    • Do not leave the room without consulting the staff
  6. Notify the staff of any changes

    • If you notice that a bandage, catheter, or IV line has shifted or become wet, notify the nurses immediately
    • If you notice redness, pain, or swelling at the insertion site of a catheter, IV line, or drainage tube, notify the nurses immediately.
