The 7th International “Athens Shoulder Course 2026” was completed with significant participation and international appeal.

18 March 2026

The 7th International “Athens Shoulder Course 2026”-, one of the most important scientific events in the field of shoulder surgery in Europe was completed, boasting significant participation and international appeal. The seminar was attended by over 350 healthcare professionals and featured more than 100 renowned Greek and international speakers, including leading shoulder-specialized orthopaedic surgeons.

The international seminar was organized by the 3rd Orthopaedic Clinic of HYGEIA, in collaboration with the Italian Arthroscopic Society (SIAGASCOT) and the French Arthroscopic Society (SFA), under the auspices of HEAL Academy, the educational unit of Hellenic Healthcare Group.

Participants attended specialized presentations and engaged in scientific discussions on the latest topics and therapeutic approaches in shoulder surgery. Of particular interest were the dynamic “Mini Battles” and “Debates”, where different surgical strategies for treating the same conditions were presented, fostering scientific dialogue and exchange of expertise among specialists.

The seminar also featured live broadcasts of recorded surgical procedures, during which speakers presented modern techniques and analysed potential challenges that may arise during the procedures, along with strategies for addressing them. The educational experience was further enriched by hands-on training on cadaveric specimens, allowing participants to practice contemporary arthroscopy and open shoulder surgery at ATTC, one of the most advanced surgical training centres in Europe.

Alongside the Athens Shoulder Course, the Special Physio Workshop was held for the fourth consecutive year, attracting international participation. The workshop was designed for physiotherapists and focused on a holistic approach to shoulder disorders, combining surgical perspectives with an in-depth presentation of modern rehabilitation methods.

The President of the Athens Shoulder Course, Mr. Emmanouil Antonogiannakis, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Director of the 3rd Orthopaedic Clinic of HYGEIA, stated: “The advancement of Orthopaedic Science and Surgery is founded on the exchange of knowledge and experience between physicians. Through scientific dialogue, cooperation and the continuous pursuit of better solutions for our patients, we can move medical practice one step forward. At the same time, it is our responsibility to pass on our knowledge and experience to younger colleagues, enabling them to effectively apply the most modern techniques. It is a great honour that leading scientists from all over the world participate in this effort and visit our country, at a time when Orthopaedics is evolving at an extremely rapid pace, closely linked to technological progress.”
