Leading Quality Accreditation: HYGEIA renews its international Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation for yet another 3 years

04 July 2019

HYGEIA has been successfully evaluated by Joint Commission International (JCI) and maintained its Gold Seal of Approval® for another 3 years, remaining the only hospital in Greece to have been certified by the most distinguished and internationally recognized Accreditation Standard for Healthcare Organizations for 9 years straight.

The inspection for the accreditation renewal was conducted during the last week of June. Three expert inspectors with international experience evaluated the compliance of HYGEIA Hospital’s clinical, administrative and supportive services to the 1,200 strict requirements of the standard, which cover the entire range of a hospital’s activities, through on-site inspection, interviews with patients and staff, and review of documents and files.

Commenting on the accreditation, the HYGEIA Group CEO, Mr Andreas Kartapanis, noted, “The JCI accreditation is a seal of quality, but for us at HYGEIA, it rewards the long-term commitment and intense efforts of the entire staff and our doctors for continuous improvement. We are extremely proud that HYGEIA maintained its JCI Gold Seal of Approval and remains in this elite group of healthcare organizations globally. Our vision is to continue to be a point of reference for the provision of healthcare services; therefore, we will continue to invest in the quality of the services we provide with the same fervor and drive, showcasing the excellence of the hospital on a scientific and operating level.”

The JCI standard has been developed by international experts and healthcare providers, with the participation of patients. It is constantly upgraded to incorporate the current scientific literature and includes strict requirements for objective evaluation of hospitals as to their quality of services, patient safety and efficient organization.
